"You heard that I said to you, ‘I go away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved Me,
you would have rejoiced, because I go to the Father; for the Father is greater than I,'" (John 14:28)
This is a direct quote from Jesus himself. This verse is used by non-trinitarians to make
the claim that Jesus can not possibly be God because he said that he was not as great as the father.
The non-trinitarians were right in once aspect of this...He WAS lower than the Father, but no
longer is. When Jesus was a man, he humbled himself, even to the point of death on a cross (Philipians 2:5-8).
He humbled himself lower than the rank of the angles (Heb. 9:2), but since he created the angles do you really think he could
possibly be lower than them? That is a silly idea! He created us, how can he be our equal? That, too, is a silly idea!
While on earth, he humbled himself so that he could die for the forgiveness of our sins! While on earth, he was lower
than the Father, but now has ascended to heaven where he is at the right hand of the Father in all of his origonal Majesty
and Glory.
That verse in no way contradicts the teachings of the Trinity.
